Fundraising Activities

The money used to support PTO programming is raised by a number of different fundraisers held throughout the year, as well as a membership drive.  Please click here for our Volunteer Opportunities page to find out where volunteers are currently needed.

The Bernazzani PTO 2012-2013 school year fundraisers feature:

  • Open House Raffles(September 27th):  This is the first event of the year to help promote Bernazzani and the PTO.  View displays about upcoming events, and sign-up for volunteering opportunities, email and membership drives, and raffles.

Come meet teachers and other parents.  Everyone is always welcome.

  • Catalogue Sales Promotion (September -October 5):  This year’s promotion was handled through Meadow Farms Fundraising.  Catalogues include products from the following gift lines:  wrapping paper (same supplier as Sally Foster), household goods, jewelry, candy, cookie dough/pastry and more.

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help process orders and distribute when orders arrive in early November.

  • Harvest Hop Dance (October 19 6-8pm):  This event is for the whole family.  Enjoy an evening of music/dancing, games, raffles and snacks.  Wear your costume and get a head-start on Halloween.

Volunteers are needed to help set-up/clean-up, sell tickets and snacks, and run raffles and games.  DONATIONS of food, beverages and prizes are much needed.

  • Fall School Photos (October 24):  Pictures are taken by Lifetouch Studios and various packages are available for purchase.  Annual class photos are taken at this time as well.

VOLUNTEERS are needed to direct students and help comb hair as needed.  When pictures arrive, volunteers help with delivery and distribution.

  • Book Fair (November 5-10):  This year’s promotion was handled by Scholastic Books.  A mobile Book Fair is held in the Media Center for a week, which is shorter than normal this year.   We will be open during school hours, for a period of time after school and during a family night on November 9th.

VOLUNTEERS are needed to cover shifts during the fair to assist buyers and make sales.  Daytime and evening hours are available.

  • Santa’s Workshop(December 5):  Santa’s Workshop is more of a “for the kids” event than a fundraiser.  The children are invited, by grade, to shop the amazing treasures of the world that are offered.  Items are generally less than $3, and it’s a wonderful way for the kids to do their own holiday shopping.

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help set-up/clean-up, assist shoppers, serve as cashier, and wrap the gifts.

  • Original Works Artwork(March):   A variety of products (including mugs, t-shirts, pillow cases and clocks) can be personalized with your child’s own art, and are available for purchase.  A great opportunity to capture your child’s artwork to share with family and friends.

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help process orders and distribute when orders arrive.

  • Box Top and Store Rebates (Collection Oct. 19 and March):  See our Recycling and Rebates page to learn about all of our rebate programs.  These “free money” programs utilize the purchases we make everyday to earn money for our school.

VOLUNTEERS are needed to accept drop-offs, separate and count, redeem rebates (at redemption center, on-line, or via mail to vendor) and research and promote new initiatives.

  •

SHOPAROO is a new hassle-free fundraiser we are trying this year.  All you need to do is take pictures of your grocery receipts with the Shoparoo app for smart phones and tablets.  It doesn’t matter where you shop or what you buy - every receipt submitted results in a donation to our school!  Simply download the free app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and then select Bernazzani as your chosen cause.  Shoparoo uses the information for market research. Visit www.shoparoo.com

  • Recycling of Various Items (Ongoing):  See our Recycling and Rebates page to learn about all of our recycling programs.  These “free money” programs utilize the purchases we make everyday to earn money for our school.  COLLECTION of bottles, cans and drink pouches is scheduled on the 1st Saturday of each month.

VOLUNTEERS are needed to accept drop-offs, separate and count, deliver recyclables (at redemption center, on-line, or via mail to vendor) and to research and promote new initiatives.

Participation

Parent participation in at least one fundraiser is MUCH appreciated. Fundraisers are all run by volunteer parents and additional help is always needed. (See our Volunteer Opportunities page.) Private donations are happily accepted.

PTO Budget

The budget summary and current financial updates are available at each PTO meeting or by contacting the Treasurer, Sarah Alessandro at ssjalessandro@yahoo.com

PTO distribution of funds is determined by past usage as well as teacher requests and parent suggestions.  The PTO Budget is determined at a budget meeting held in May prior to the upcoming school year.  New ideas for fundraisers and fund useage are welcome at this meeting and throughout the year.  All parents are encouraged to attend.
